It is resistant to diseases, easy to grow, and it grows in almost any soil and climatic. It is fast growing, matures 75-95 days. And has a milder flavour than other varieties.

Sowing is from April to October, or from March if you plant inside first. We must choose a sunny but with partial shade place. We sow the seeds 1.5 cm deep trying to separate them about 30 cm. If we leave enough space, we will have a longer harvest period as there will be enough space to develop new heads on each plant. We must keep the soil moist, but not too much.

Calabrese is collected while the bud is tight; once a week in cool weather and twice in warmer climates. We use a knife to cut the calabrese leaving a small stem, we choose the heads in the sides. They will last in the fridge for about a week, for longer storage they can be frozen in plastic bags.

It can be eaten fresh in salads. We can also cook steamed (which is better preserved its vitamins and its nice color), in soups, omelettes, pasta, sauces, as a garnish for meat, fish, etc.

Broccoli is a source of vitamins, iron, folic acid and niacin. It has anti-inflammatory antioxidant and detoxifying properties. It helps strengthen eyes and bones, slows aging, improves cardiovascular health, reduces cholesterol and helps in controlling diabetes. It has a very high content of phytonutrients that make it a powerful ally against cancer because these components help the immune system itself to fight disease. Currently it is looking for a possible drug that uses the calabrese in treatments to combat this disease.

We can plant the calabrese close cucumber, garlic, onion, borage and other herbs. It isn't advisable plant them with leek, radish, strawberry, tomato, pepper and mustard.
