Kale Lacinato Nero di Toscana is a variety from 1879 with a long tradition in Italian cuisine, especially in Tuscany and is one of the traditional ingredients for minestrone and ribollita. It is biennial and very resistant to frost: it tolerates conditions that most brassicas do not, improving its flavor after periods of cold. Kale is also known as Collard Greens.
